RAII grant writing for southern Ontario businesses
FedDev Ontario is accepting RAII applications until January 19, 2027, with an earlier November 24, 2026 cut-off for projects that start spending before March 31, 2027. We help you meet the right deadline with a strong application.
How FedDev Ontario's RAII funding works
| What it supports | Businesses adopting and integrating AI, Canadian AI companies commercializing and scaling their products, and regional organizations that connect businesses with AI support |
|---|---|
| Cost share | FedDev Ontario has covered up to 50% of eligible project costs, with the applicant covering at least 50%. In-kind contributions don't count toward your share. |
| Type of funding | For businesses, generally an interest-free repayable contribution |
| Project size | The previous adoption intake funded $125,000 to $5 million per project. We'll confirm the limits for the 2026 intake with you. |
| Stacking limit | Total government help (federal, provincial and municipal) has been capped at 50% of eligible capital costs and 75% of eligible non-capital costs |
| Priority sectors | Health and life sciences, energy and natural resources, transportation, agriculture, manufacturing and robotics, and other regional strengths |
Two deadlines to know
November 24, 2026: the deadline if your project has eligible costs before March 31, 2027.
January 19, 2027: the final day to apply in southern Ontario.
Plan for your 50%
Because FedDev Ontario covers no more than half of eligible costs and in-kind contributions don't count, you'll need to show how you'll fund the rest. We help you build a financing plan that holds up.
What the money can pay for
- Buying and installing AI software, equipment and infrastructure
- Incremental labour, expertise and project management
- Training and talent development for the project
- Cybersecurity measures
- Intellectual property costs related to the project
